Post-doctoral research fellow position

We are looking for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow to investigate epigenetic deregulations in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Job profile and position overview:

Research Scientist in liver pathobiology/epigenetics.

We are offering a Post-doctoral Research Fellow position at PaThLiv (UMR UCBL1 Inserm U1350) in the team “Epigenetics, microenvironment and liver diseases” (EpiLiv). We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join our team for an exciting 3-year project to investigate the role of epigenetic deregulations in hepatocellular carcinoma (principal investigator: Mirjam Zeisel). The close link between PaThLiv and the Institute of Hepatology of Lyon provides an excellent interface between science and medicine. The candidate will engage in cutting-edge research employing molecular and chemical biology techniques, including (spatial) transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics and bioinformatics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct innovative research using advanced molecular & cellular biology techniques.
  • Analyse mass spectrometry, transcriptomic and ChIP-seq datasets.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current principles, latest publications, methods, and advancements in the field.
  • Present their work and train other lab members as part of their postdoctoral training.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD. in Biology, with demonstrated expertise in cell culture and molecular biology. Expertise in liver biology and/or epigenetics is a plus.
  • Experience in analysis of large datasets / bioinformatic skills are highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication, reporting, and collaboration. French is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work in a team, troubleshoot experimental challenges, and maintain attention to detail. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Duration: 2 years (with the possibility to extend for 1 year)
  • Salary: according to the University of Lyon salary grids, depending on experience
